December 10 Christmas Dinner Theater: Virgil’s First Christmas

Westfield Church presents Christmas Dinner Theater at Highland Meadows Farm (551 McClain Road, Enon Valley) on Saturday, December 10, at 6:00 p.m. This event is free, but a reservation is necessary.

This Christmas comedy has it all – a heapin’ helpin’ of hillbilly fun, sight gags, comic misunderstandings, profound ponderin’s and your favorite actors portraying the haughty Tishwater family and the simple backwoods couple Virgil and Margaret.

Buffet dinner features pork loin, baked potato, mixed vegetables, applesauce and homemade pie. Y’all Come!

Community Meal Volunteers Needed

Thank you to all of our Westfield members who have been faithfully helping the deacons with the community meal. We would love to have more people sign up so volunteers don’t have to help every month. Please check out the sign up board in the narthex or below, to help us occasionally. This is a great opportunity to minister to the tired, lonely and sick.

Please leave your name and email below to sign up to be a volunteer:

Thank Offering – Received on December 4th

This year as we give THANKS we will also be giving HOPE to families in West Virginia who have suffered so much from the devastating floods that have occurred this year. Our offering and gifts will be given to the West Virginia Ministry & Advocacy Workcamps, an arm of the Presbytery of West Virginia. In 2017 our Mission Team will travel to West Virginia to work with and support this ministry. All monies collected will go directly to buy construction supplies and materials needed for reconstruction. Please be very generous and know that your gifts will help many needy people. The Thank Offering will be received on December 4.

Christmas Shoe Boxes

christmas_shoebox_pic_postingby Deborah Replogle & Caroline Swanson

300 shoe boxes have been delivered and are waiting to be filled! Westfield packed 256 boxes last year, but we aren’t setting a goal this year because we don’t want to limit ourselves. Let’s see where God leads!

Our kick off day is Sunday, October 16 and our dedication day is Sunday, November 20. We are working on a tight schedule so you must be diligent in re-turning your packed boxes on time.

Important Things to Remember When Packing

  • Many of the children receiving a box have never received a gift before
  • Do not over-pack the box
  • Don’t tuck in money as a gift. The only money is your $7 inside the box on top to cover processing
  • Do not tape the box. Use a rubber band
  • Securely glue/tape the label in the correct position
  • Include a picture of yourself or your family (this is optional but a nice idea)
  • If you include an empty container (like a water bottle), you can fill it with items
  • Most common box packed:  Girl age 5-9
  • Least common box packed:  Boy age 10-14
  • You can buy items like combs, pencils, and markers in bulk and divide them between several boxes

We have Women of Westfield to thank for sewing drawstring backpacks again. Be sure to pick up one, while the supply lasts, to add to your box.

New This Year: A bin to collect ALMOST NEW ITEMS. You can drop off T-shirts, tennis shoes, flipflops, stuffed animals, toys, etc. that we will use to pack extra boxes.

If you want to sponsor a box or have questions about anything, please contact us (Deborah 724.667.9566 or Caroline 724.667.8178).

Thank you so much for your participation in this missional project. In the hands of local people, every gift-filled shoe box is a powerful tool for evangelism and discipleship—transforming the lives of children and their families around the world through the Good News of Jesus Christ!
